swimming,

today me and becci made a dawn excursion to the beach, with the plan to go swimming. we didn't. it was freezing. it was so cold in fact, that the sand was doing that thing it deos when it's boiling. you know when you walk on boiling sand? and it's so hot it almost sends shivers up your spine? every step is more painful than the last, and you can see the end of the beach, and you are just counting down the seconds until your feet can be on cool concrete. it was like that, this morning, but it wasn't from an overbearing heat, but a frightfully frightful chill. the soles of my feet are still sore. i left the beach over 3 hours ago.

anyway, before we were beach-bound i was dreaming of the colour green. i told becci this and she wondered what i meant. when i dream of colours it is too hard to explain. there wasn't a specific setting, specific plot, any specific people. just the colour green. post "swim" i slept again, and dreamt again. something to do with a big white tent? a hat? with a black border?

anyway, i feel sort of like a failure for not actually going swimming, but i think dawn swimming plus winter isn't the best of combos. maybe i'll have to go in the middle of a nice sunny day (like today or tomorrow), but will have to see re: strangers. i think adventures in other parts of life have been enough to counteract this, anyway. but we'll see.

it made me think of my lebanese seaside adventures:-
